2019 Minto US Open Pickleball Championships

 

Tournament information

  • April 27-May 4 in Naples, Florida, see the daily schedule here or here
  • Margaritaville Party in the Park will be on Saturday, April 27 from 9am-3pm
  • Last year, there were 2,000 players from 47 states and 20 countries
  • This year they are expecting over 2,100 players from 48 states and 16 countries
  • Ages range from 10 to 86 that will be competing for $50,000 in prize money
  • There were over 10,000 spectators last year
  • Advance tickets for the Zing Zang Championship Court are sold out online, but additional tickets will be available at the Snack Shack if space is available
  • No charge to watch on the 51 other courts
  • Pro Finals are at approximately 6 pm on Saturday, May 4

 

When you are there

  • The tournament is at East Naples Community Park- 3500 Thomasson Drive, map here
  • The Naples Botanical Garden Welcome Center at the event has more info about the tournament and fun things to do in Naples
  • Free entry but you must purchase a ticket for the Championship Court on Friday and Saturday
  • Parking is $5 per day with complimentary shuttles from the parking lots
  • You can bring your own chair and coolers but no glass or alcohol
  • Cash is king since most of the vendors only accept cash
  • Dogs are welcome
  • Alcohol will be served for select hours at the Landshark Beer Garden
  • Grab and go food will be sold at the Snack Shack under the US Open Expo Tent from 7am-5pm

 

Weather delays

  • If there is a weather delay, the will try to play the matches, but the format may be modified to finish the games
  • Matches that were not played one day do not carry over to any other days
  • There are no refunds due to weather issues
  • Delays will be communicated via email to the players and posted on the US Open Welcome page and at Pickleball Tournaments

 

Athletes

  • Athletes can check in as early as Saturday, April 27 between 9am-3pm to receive their credential and player souvenir bag
  • Athletes must check in each day they are playing
  • Player credentials will give you access to the Zing Zang Championship Court Sunday-Thursday, but a purchased ticket is required for Friday and Saturday admission
  • All medal matches and Pro/Senior matches will have referees
  • Other matches will have referees assigned based on availability

  1. Heading to Indian Wells for the 2019 Margaritaville Nationals?

Here’s the facility info:

  • It’s held November 2-10 at Indian Wells Tennis Center in guess where? Indian Wells, CA
  • Indian Wells is 30 minutes from Palm Springs International Airport
  • There are 49 pickleball courts
  • More restrooms (hey ladies!) and concessions
  • Players have access to the Championship Court included in their registration

 

Registration news:

  • Players will be notified by August 22 if you’ve received a spot
  • When a player’s name is drawn, you will be entered in all events that you registered, if spots are available
  • Once the spots are filled, those not picked will be placed on a wait list
  • To participate you must have played in at least one of the qualifying USAPA-sanctioned events between July 16, 2018 and July 15, 2019. You are eligible to play in singles, doubles and mixed doubles events.ind

Hi everybody,

The goal of Quick Pickle has always been to learn and get better at pickleball in a fun and entertaining way.  Hopefully, these blogs or our videos have made you a better player, made you laugh or at least smile. 

The most exciting part of pickleball for me is the social and welcoming attitude of the sport.  No other game has players that want you to succeed and feel like a part of a group or family like it does.
