6 people and pickleball companies to connect with in 2020

Oh Yeah!!  It’s that time of year when the snow starts to melt, or it’s 600 instead of 500 and we get excited to play outside whenever we want!  It’s also that time of year when we roll out who we should be checking out in pickleball in 2020.

Click the year if you want to see who we recommended following in 2019 and 2018

Pickleball Magazine – it’s the magazine for the sport and the name proves it.  This periodical is delivered to your inbox with what’s happening in the sport, info from the USAPA, articles written by top players and our favorite- “Observations from Pickleball Curmudgeon Craig Laughlin”.  You can click the link to see the latest issue, subscribe and search previous issues.

Pickleball Kitchen – started by one of the hardest working people in pickleball, Barrett Kincheloe.  He’s a certified instructor, writes his own articles, hosts a podcast and… let me catch my breath… a YouTube channel as well.  His easy to follow website gives you more info than you were probably expecting.  If you need to, you can take a break to catch your breath and come back to it another time.

Pickleball Max – like many of us Todd Jungling learned about the sport in PE class growing up and got into it again as an adult.  Just when you thought you’ve heard every pickleball terms, he invented a new one- picklebility.  It encompasses your passion, ability and addiction to pickleball.  On the site, you’ll find a pickleball planner, product recommendations and a newsletter.

Kyle Yates on Instagram – one of the top players in the sport does a great job of sharing his experiences on and off the court.  A Paddletek sponsored player, Kyle is always in contention for the medal stand.  He’s an awesome ambassador for the sport and one of the young guns bringing it to the mainstream.  Kyle started playing in 2014 after being an avid tennis player in high school.  Love this quote he gave a few years ago, “People like to complicate the game with all these different techniques and styles, but we tend to forget that the object of the game is to hit the ball IN the court.”

US Open Pickleball Championships – “The Biggest Pickleball Party in the World!”  How can you not want to be a part of that?  The 4th annual Minto US Open Pickleball Championships are hosted in Naples, FL.  This year they are 4/18-4/25 and will have the finals broadcast on CBS Sports on 4/25 from 7:00-9:00 pm.  Whether you will be playing, volunteering, referring, watching in person or from home their website gives you all the info you need.  With over 2,100 participants and 12,000 pickleballers taking over the East Naples Community Park, it’s the place to be seen in the pickleball world.  You can check our past results, as well as match finals, matches on their site.

Places 2 Play – “Where’s a good place to play in _________” or “I’m going to be in ABC City, where are some pickleball courts?”  Have you ever said or typed those words?  The USAPA’s Places2Play website and iPhone app show you courts that you can play at whether it’s your hometown or your home for the night.  Use the GPS to find your location or type in the city or zip code and it will list the options for you.  If you’re a USAPA member, you can also search for Ambassadors in the member directory to see if they have any recommendations for you.

We hope you have a great 2020!  Let us know if there are other places we should be checking out.

Hi everybody,

The goal of Quick Pickle has always been to learn and get better at pickleball in a fun and entertaining way.  Hopefully, these blogs or our videos have made you a better player, made you laugh or at least smile.

The most exciting part of pickleball for me is the social and welcoming attitude of the sport.  No other game has players that want you to succeed and feel like a part of a group or family like it does.

I was very hesitant to share my story below because of how raw and personal it is, but if it can help one person then it is worth it.
